AMP Energy Juice (Mixed Berry)

March 05, 2010 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, EDG suggested, Energy Drinks, Ginseng, Juice, Taurine, Vitamins No Comments →

I love to sample great drinks on Friday and today was no exception!

AMP comes in a 12 oz plastic bottle with a resealable top and a plastic label sleeve. Lets crack this Mixed Berry version open and see what it’s made of… I noticed a regular juice aroma that was pleasing, you would not think this was an energy drink just by the smell. When you pour this into a glass it has a cloudy opaque color and you can see little bits of juice pulp in there (since it’s 100% juice)  First sip and you taste a very pleasing smooth juice beverage, there is no “energy” flavor to it and if it was server without the bottle I doubt anyone could tell!

I am huge Rockstar Guava fan for early mornings but I think I have just found a replacement for that fix!  AMP is great tasting and I got a nice little afternoon pickup and been still feeling good for the past 2 hours!

Made with 100% juice and no added sugar, AMP Energy Juice combines a stimulating blend of B (6 + 12) and C vitamins, taurine, ginseng, guarana and caffeine for those looking for an energy drink with all the added benefits of 100% juice!

AMP Juice was just released in Feb 2010, so look for it at your local store soon!  AMP Juice also comes in an Orange flavor.

EDG Recommended if you like juice drinks!

** Stay tuned for an “AMP UP” prize package giveaway next week!

Mona Vie

February 05, 2010 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Ginseng, Guarana, Juice, Vitamins 2 Comments →

Mona Vie comes in a 250 ml black can with a light blue pull tab and blue band on the rim.

It’s a plain and simple can with a slight color accent that looks nice!  Mona Vie claims to be “the premier acai blend”  80% juice – no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners!

When you crack the can open it has a grape aroma that may smell like wine.

When poured into a glass it has a murky look, purpleish color and I noticed some floaties in there (I have noticed

other acai drinks that have the floaties… so maybe something with the berry itself?)

The taste is very tart and dry, I also thought it had to Jekyll and Hyde style to it… when I took my first sip I didn’t really like it but once I was done I wanted more.

Overall it is an interesting and complex beverage that is worth sampling if you have the chance!

Hydrive Energy Triple Berry

February 04, 2010 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Ginkgo, Taurine, Vitamins No Comments →

Today we have a Hydrive Triple Berry quick look review!

  • crystal clear red color
  • non-carbonated, enhanced water energy drink
  • first sip strong and tart but smooths out
  • tasty berry flavor
  • minimal aftertaste
  • caffeine, taurine, ginkgo + acai
  • 30 calories
  • great afternoon pick me up while at work

Conclusion: I was impressed with this low calorie offering, the flavor is good and I didn’t notice that nasty or strange aftertaste you get with certain artificial sweeteners.  I would drink this again and recommend to my friends who want something lighter than a Redbull / Monster.

Emergen-C

January 08, 2010 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Vitamins No Comments →

emergen-CI always heard the hype of Emergen-C on travel and airline message boards but never tried it.  I have sample Airborne before so I needed to see what this stuff was about.

The single serve powder comes in a 0.3oz tear open packet that you add to 4-6 oz of water.  I have heard people add it to a 20 oz water bottle ect… I guess as long as you drink all the powder your in good shape!  For testing purposes I added the powder to 6 oz of water and gave it a stir!

Tangerine is the flavor I have but once you add it to water it looks more like lemonade.  They claim its a  “Flavored Fizzy Drink Mix” but there isn’t much fizz at all… NOTHING like an alka-seltzer.  Once you take a sip there is a faint tangerine flavor but nothing overpowering and no aftertaste.

They claim 24 nutrients w/ antioxidants, electrolytes and 7 B vitamins. 1 pack gives you 1,667% of your daily Vitamin C allowance!!

There is no caffeine or other stimulants so all the energy or boost you get is from the vitamins ect.  It’s more of feel good kind of drink IMO, if your draggin ass, it won’t hurt to take but it’s sure not gonna give you all the boost you need.

I rank this right up there with Airborne, so grab a pack and try to stay healthy this winter!

Hydrive Energy – Blue Raspberry

December 03, 2009 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Energy Drinks, Vitamins 4 Comments →

Today we had a chance to sample some Hydrive Energy – Blue Raspberry (enhanced water energy drink).

Hydrive Blue

Hydrive comes in 5 different flavors (15.5 oz plastic bottle) and they all have a unique formula.  The Blue Raspberry is the Strength formula.

I love this color of this drink once poured into a glass, it has that rich pool water blue look, sorta like Windex!  Hydrive has a very faint aroma but if you do notice anything it may be a generic berry smell.

First sip is mellow, non carbonated and no overpowering flavors make this very easy to drink.  (For reference: Vitamin water has a stronger taste) I would have no problem slugging this down on a hot day, and it leaves only a light aftertaste!  This drink won’t help you much after a screaming late night party and you need to be at work @ 8am, but it will give ya little pep and quench your thirst!

  • 30 calories
  • Low sugar
  • B vitamins
  • Electrolytes
  • Amino Acids

Hydrive Energy chews

November 05, 2009 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Vitamins No Comments →

hydrive chew

Today we had the chance to sample some Orange Burst Hydrive Energy chews!

There are 4 chews in a pack and 40mg of caffeine per chew, calcium and plenty of Vitamin C, B3, B5, B6 and B12!

When you unwrap one of these you see a substance similar to a Starburst and notice a orangy aroma similar to baby aspirin.

Pop one of these in your mouth and it has tart flavor and a orange flavor with a hint of vanilla…. or maybe a concentrated Tang flavor with a slightly gritty texture.  The orange flavor has a long aftertaste which isn’t a bad thing, especially when your at your desk staring at a computer.  These have a good taste and I think you could non energy drink fans to eat these, they have no energy drink taste.  You will get a little energy boost and the more you eat the greater the boost.  Do not consume more than 8 chews in a 24 hr period!

You can purchase these online at www.hydriveenergy.com Get 20% off when you mention code: HYD20

I have some other Hydrive drinks to review so stay tuned for those!

On Go Energy

January 24, 2009 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Ginseng, Taurine, Vitamins 4 Comments →

We have another contender in the 2 oz energy drink market!

On Go Energy is offered in 3 different flavors; Lemon Lime, Berry Blast and Mandarin Orange. on-go

Today we will be sampling the Mandarin Orange flavor. On Go comes in a 2 oz white plastic screw cap bottle with a plastic label sleeve. The first thing you will smell when you crack this bottle open is baby aspirin… i am not talking the general “baby aspirin energy drink” taste, i am talking about the orange St. Josephs baby aspirin you had as a kid! if you don’t remember those little orange aspirin pills, it does resemble an orange creamsicle smell and taste.

Compared to those other 2 oz energy drinks that taste pretty medicine like, On Go has a great flavor you can sip or chug! Non-carbonated, finishes clean, minimal aftertaste and taste good!

On Go states “No carbs, no sugar, no crash, stamina, focus and endurance” and only 8 calories for calorie counters!

I give On Go the thumbs up, if you want a quick pick me up and don’t feel like drinking a 16 oz can this is your ticket!

I sampled the Lemon Lime flavor and I am not a fan, the Orange is 100x better in my eyes.

Final Round Results:
1. Mandarin Orange (Hands down winner)
2. Berry Blast (great taste)
3. Lemon Lime (I wasn’t a fan, it didn’t compare with the other flavors :( )

Starbucks Cinnamon Dulce

January 21, 2009 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Coffee, Ginseng, Guarana, Insoitol, Taurine, Vitamins No Comments →

We were very pleased with the first batch of Starbucks Energy + Coffee drinks and now they are introducing a new flavor to the lineup!

CINNAMON DULCE sbx-cinn

Today we cracked open a can of Cinnamon Dulce and was greeted with coffee aroma similar to the other SBX drinks and a very slight hint of cinnamon. Once poured into a glass this drink looks THICK and RICH with a deep caramel color.

The first sip I took was rather rough…. (NOTE: EDG is a not a fan of cinnamon) I noticed a strong cinnamon taste and almost thought I was sipping out of an ashtray…. A few more sips later the ashtray/cinnamon taste was going away and it became more drinkable! I had another colleague (who enjoys cinnamon) sample this drink and he liked it start to finish.

I could drink this again BUT I would prefer one of the other Starbucks Energy drinks. I’m sure plenty of people out there will really enjoy this drink!

List of the good stuff:
- 1800mg Taurine
- 180mg Inositol
- 325mg Ginsing
- 90mg Guarana
- 450mg L-Carnitine
- 2000mg Maltodextrin

If you like cinnamon + coffee I highly recommend you try this drink once it hits the market on Jan 22, 2009.

Neuro Fuel

January 08, 2009 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Taurine, Vitamins 19 Comments →

neurofuel

There is no way to put a positive spin on Neuro Fuel……  This stuff is HORRIBLE!

NOTE: I have reviewed the “Improved Flavor” formula here , please read that also.

NF has a screaming canary yellow color that looks really good but once the aroma hits your nose you are wondering why they would put yack piss in a can!  I consulted with 4 of my colleagues to confirm my finding and give NF a non-biased review.  All 5 of us had that same WTF look on our face once you got a wiff of this liquid!

If you are still tempted to taste this vile fluid you will get a very dry taste similar to a sugar free drink, medium aftertaste and a taste that I’m lost for words on….

PLEASE – do not waste your $$$$$ on this drink…. it is not worth $.02, I wouldn’t drink this if you gave it to me free!

Please read the review update on the “new” Neuro Fuel

I took about 3 sips and had to pour the rest out, this vile sludge ranks up there in the top 5 worst energy drinks.

I have no comment on the energy boost since I couldn’t drink enough to tell.

They claim this is a “mood enhancing formula” and I have to agree, I was really pissed off after drinking this.

The website for NF is kinda cool though!

Neuro Fuel was sent to me by an EDG fan and I am sorry I don’t remember your name but thanks for sending this in…. and sorry about the honest review of it.
