Guru Energy

November 16, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Guarana, echinacea 7 Comments →

Guru EnergyToday we had the chance to sample some Guru Energy! Guru comes in your standard 250 mL bullet can, has an interesting red/silver theme with block lettering. Guru claims to be 100% natural and certified organic.

Guru has a deep gold color, mild carbonation and a very unique flavor that I find hard to describe… maybe a grapefruit mixed with ginger ale? The taste is somewhat tart and sour and it hits you on the roof of your mouth a little bit. Guru defiantly has a dry aftertaste once the tingle on your tongue disappears. I picked up the can to look at it about an hour later, took a sniff and it smell just like cotton candy inside that can!!

Guru contains sparkling water, organic white grape + cane juice, guarana, caffeine, SALT, ginseng root, ginkgo biloba and echinacea. This is the first drink I have seen that comes with echinacea.

Overall it’s not a bad drink, i would have this again. I paid $2.25 at Whole Foods for this and though that was a bit steep. I would drink this more often if I could find it for a buck.

Power Trip

November 07, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Guarana, Insoitol, Taurine, Vitamins 2 Comments →

POWER TRIP“TASTE THE POWER”

Power Trip has a nice explosive looking can that makes you think there may be flavor frenzy in your mouth… Sorry to inform you but there is no flavor explosion.

PT is an opaque teal blue color, shows mild signs of carbonation and there is no distinct aroma when you crack the can open. The can labels this as “Outrageous Blue Citrus Flavor”. I found nothing “Outrageous” about this flavor; to be honest I could not even describe what this flavor is. I can see that it may try and resemble some sort of citrus flavor but I am not sure what one. The first swig you take has a nice little bite to it, mild carbonation increases a little more once it sits on your tongue for a while.   The can does not list any specific amounts of goodies in there but include the usual suspects: Caffeine, inositol, guarana and taurine.

PT comes in a 10.5 oz can; it’s a tad bigger than your standard Red Bull 250mL bullet can but just not a full 12 oz. I am not sure where the marketing idea was on the 310mL can but I only paid $.60 at Big Lots so that’s OK by me. If you can find this drink for under a $.60 it’s worth a try, I wouldn’t spend over $1 on this.

Dead Red Xcelerator

October 17, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Ginseng, Guarana, Insoitol, Milk Thistle, Taurine, Vitamins No Comments →

Dead redListen up all you slackers that are running behind, is it time for an Excelerator?

Dead Red energy gives you a sharp taste, provides a nice heavy film on roof of mouth, hits ya in back of throat, offers a med-heavy carbonation that tingles your mouth pretty good, cotton mouth sets in about 5 seconds after you gulp this down.

This drink has a red/pink/fushia color and that generic fruit punch taste and aroma. I personally am not going to buy this drink again, luckily I only spent $.60 at big lots for this.  The can has a cool design and comes in a 12oz bullet can.

The “goods”: 1500 mg taurine, 37 mg inositol, 37 mg ginseng, 30 mg milk thistle and 22 mg ginko. (unknown amount of guarana and HFCS)

Did I mention this drink gives you serious cottonmouth?

There has been quite a discussion about Bacchus and this picture proves that this drink does in fact come in a can.

Rockstar Juiced Guava

October 11, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, EDG suggested, Energy Drinks, Ginseng, Guarana, Insoitol, Milk Thistle, Taurine, Vitamins 2 Comments →

Rockstar GuavaToday we have another selection from the Rockstar “Juiced” line. Rockstar Guava has a pretty cool purple can with a diamond plate design and black/gold lettering.RS Guava has sweet fruity aroma when you crack the can open, pinkish/red color and mild carbonation. If you have ever flown on an inner island in Hawaii they give you these little 4 oz cups of guava juice and this drink will remind you of it.

RSG used to be 70% juice but that had been knocked down to 50% juice but the same great taste is still there! :) I really enjoy this drink, you can crack one of these open first thing in the morning and serve it at breakfast (to people that say they don’t like energy drinks).

This drink really breaks out of the standard energy drink taste and brings a new flavor to the table! Props to Rockstar on this grade A winner! I rate this drink in my top 3 of energy drinks I have sampled!

Rip it — Citrus X

October 09, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Guarana, Insoitol, Taurine, Vitamins 5 Comments →

Rip it Citrus XGood morning readers, today we have a nice solid value drink I think you all will enjoy! Rip It Citrus-X has a nice orange juice color, mild carbonation, orangy aroma that is very inviting in the morning. C-X provides a nice tingle on the tongue, the flavor itself reminds me slightly of Tang but not as intense. I really enjoy Citrus-X, this is tasty drink that has just the right amount of bite to make this a refreshing morning pick!

I used to get this for $.99/can but it looks like they have raised the price to $1.09/can but that’s still a great deal compared to the other $2 drinks!

Goods include: 16 oz can, 2000mg taurine, 200 mg caffeine, 200mg inositol and 20mg guarana seed.

Rockstar Juiced Pomegranate

October 01, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Ginseng, Guarana, Insoitol, Milk Thistle, Taurine, Vitamins No Comments →

Happy October 1st

Rockstar Pom is part of the Juiced collection of drink, I think it’s better than the original “juiced” which was the orange flavor. Pom contains 50% juice, has a nice deep burgundy red color, mild carbonation that tingles your tongue just right and a slight sweet aroma that greets you when you open the can up!

RSP has a nice sweet but dry taste that includes just the right amount of carbonation to fully enjoy this beverage. There is no real aftertaste that I can taste, this finishes clean and smooth. The pomegranate flavor may be to strong or tart for a whole 16oz can, I would love to see this drink in the standard 8.3oz bullet can (and sell it for $1). After 16 oz of this drink your tongue is shot and things don’t taste right for a while. I suggest splitting this can with someone at breakfast time ;)

The goods: 16 oz can - 160mg caffeine, 2000mg taurine, 50mg inositol, 50mg guarana, 300mg ginko biloboa, 50mg ginseng, 40mg milk thistle and B vitamins.

Rip it Power

September 24, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Guarana, Insoitol, Taurine, Vitamins 4 Comments →

Rip it PowerRip It Power (Energy Fuel) comes in a 16 oz can for $1 and there are 3 other flavors available. Rip it is yellow in color, lightly carbonated and has a fruity aroma. The can design is kinda bland….. but the contents make up for the lame artwork.

Power offers a nice refreshing taste that is tropical and tangy, finishes clean and doesn’t really leave an aftertaste! I could actually drink this as a thirst quencher, you will have no problems chugging down all 16 oz.

The Rip It line of drinks are a great score for a buck, good flavor and a nice energy boost that gets you moving!

The goodies include taurine (2000 mg), guarana, caffeine, inositol, folic acid and B + C vitamins.

If you see this drink, you owe it yourself to spend the $1 and try it - 2 thumbs up!

Bacchus-D

September 21, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Guarana, Insoitol, Royal Jelly, Taurine 19 Comments →

Bacchus

Bacchus-D comes in a 100 mL glass bottle, product of Korea and manufactured for Dong-A America Corp for US distribution. This drink has a dark yellow color, is non carbonated and has a strange aroma that is hard to describe once you screw the top off.

Bacchus contains royal jelly, what is royal jelly you say? Royal jelly is a honey bee secretion that is used in the nutrition of the larvae. So basically a bunch of bees puked in this drink.

This drink has a strong taste with hints of pineapple and/or apple… but that strong taste comes with a pretty brutal aftertaste that hangs around for a while. It’s probably not a bad drink but it was just not working for me !

The most amazing thing about this drink:

2000 mg of taurine in 3.3 oz.

Most 16 oz energy drink usually have approximately 2000 mg of taurine, thats almost 5x the taurine content and I assume that’s why this drink gave me the shakes (and gave me a slight headache)!!

Velocity (Energy + Tea)

September 20, 2007 By: Enery Drink Guru Category: Caffeine, Energy Drinks, Ginseng, Guarana, Insoitol, Milk Thistle, Taurine, Tea, Vitamins 4 Comments →

Velocity Energy TeaVelocity Energy Tea is brewed from black tea leaves using filtered water (no high fructose corn syrup here) and some natural flavors. VT has a deep gold color, non carbonated and mild fruit aroma that offers plenty of antioxidants!

I really enjoyed the Velocity Tea, it has a solid brewed tea flavor with a fruity overtone. The first sip may seem kinda strange but after that you really start to enjoy this fine beverage! Velocity gives you a nice little energy boost without the shakes!

VT contains a whole list of goodies: caffeine, guarana, taurine (2000mg), panax ginseng, inositol, ginkgo bilboba, grape seed, bee pollen, B vitamins, milk thistle and gotu kola.

Purchased 16 oz can at big lots for $.60 but this drink is worth $2/can!
